Statement from Councilman Carlos Clanton on the Passing of Former Norfolk City Councilman Paul Riddick
The City of Norfolk has lost a dedicated public servant with the passing of former Councilman Paul Riddick.
On behalf of my office, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Riddick family, his friends, former colleagues, and the many residents whose lives were impacted by his decades of service to our city.
Councilman Riddick devoted more than thirty years to serving the people of Norfolk and leaves behind a legacy that helped shape the city's modern history. His leadership in advancing Norfolk's ward-based election system strengthened neighborhood representation and ensured that more voices would have a seat at the table in local government. His commitment to civil rights and civic engagement reflected a lifelong dedication to expanding opportunity and advocating for the community he loved.
