Growing up in Lambert’s Point, I remember roaming the grounds of what was once a landfill, before its rebirth as a golf course. These early explorations sparked a deep connection to this unique part of Norfolk’s landscape. This Thursday afternoon, I was privileged to join the Lambert's Point City Park Steering Committee for a revealing site visit.
The committee's commitment to preserving the last remaining city-owned acreage of the former Lambert's Point Golf Course is commendable. Nestled along the Elizabeth River, this land promises to evolve into a cherished green space for Norfolk’s community, embodying our collective resilience and environmental responsibility. As a Norfolk City Council candidate, I am wholeheartedly dedicated to endorsing the conversion of this area into a designated passive city park.
Envisioning Lambert's Point City Park as an all-season retreat underscores a significant community and conservation opportunity. I salute the efforts of The Friends of Lambert's Point City Park and everyone striving to maintain this coastal Highline for public enjoyment. Together, we can guarantee that this space remains a lively, accessible, and sustainable environment for Norfolk’s present and future populace.
