My Message to You

Rooted deeply in Norfolk —born, raised, and schooled right here. My upbringing in Park Place and Lambert’s Point Communities has profoundly shaped my perspective. As the oldest of three siblings, raised by my courageous single mother, Patricia A. Clanton, my foundational years were spent at our home church, First Baptist Church of Lambert’s Point, and Community and Theater Summer Camps at Old Dominion University, just to name a few. This rich tapestry of experiences, from being the youngest African American Director at the Norfolk Division of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce at 24 years old to accumulating over two decades of nonprofit leadership and human service experience, has honed my resolve to champion our community. Serving on the Norfolk City School Board further sculpted my readiness to confront our city’s most pressing issues with determination.

We're at a pivotal moment. It's time to rethink public safety, recommit to our neighborhoods, unlock our economic potential, and, most importantly, invest in our people. My aim is clear: to create a Norfolk where every resident has the chance to thrive, with equal access to top-notch education, healthcare, business opportunities, and a healthy environment.

Over the coming months, I'll be listening to you, refining my goals to meet our needs, and working to secure your support for the election on November 5, 2024. Why me, you ask?
